Choosing a domain name is always a challenge. We all want a cool 4 letter domain name, but unfortunately all the good meaningful ones are taken. If you fail to choose a right domain name, it sometimes may lead to disastrous outcome, sometimes it can put you out of business, example, expertsexchange.com (mispronounced as expert-sex-change.com for experts-exchange.com), give wrong ideas, cummingfirst.com (website of Cumming First United Methodist Church, in Cumming, Georgia), and sometimes are pronounced wrongly, machome.com (pronounced as macho-me.com for mac-home.com).

Domain Name Scam

I bought a domain name, couple of weeks back, was curious on how much the domain name is worth and put it for auction, just for the sake of knowing its worth ( and with a secret desire that someone will offer a 4 digit figure :-) )

2 days later I got a mail from a party, they told they were interested in the domain name, and asked me to quote my price.

I was surprised and happy at first, but when I searched for the company name they told they were representing, it was no where to be found! Domain name business company without a domain name! what are the odds?

I continued my conversation, the next mail made everything clear. I was witnessing a Domain name scam! In their mail, they were stressing too much on Domain Name appraisal(domain name company without knowing how to do this?) and that too from a particular company – http://www.easynamesale.com and sent me a link to encourage me to go for appraisal.

Search engines are search engines and that is all.

The Golden Shield Project, popularly called “Great Firewall of China”, censors Internet, it controls the accessibility of websites in China. Even though it cannot limit access to all the desired websites completely, the idea is to make it very hard to access these sites, and eventually people give up. It mainly blocks information relating to Tibet, Tiananmen Square, Dalai Lama and Pro-Democracy sites. There have been reports that people trying to access these sites repeatedly have been arrested. This politically motivated censorship prevents the people from knowing the truth, access to information and gives no room for flow of new/other ideas (democracy).

We all hate Microsoft…

Microsoft

We all hate Microsoft. Few hate because windows hangs too often, others because its slow, and others because its not open source, and others because of its monopolistic “evil” behaviour and others because its rich, and many others because everybody around them hates it. Whatever the reason is, we all simply hate it. But, if we look at the history, we realise if not Microsoft, it could have been much worse.

On its way to success, Microsoft derooted a lot of companies, the major ones that were shook are Apple and IBM. In a way, it is good for the world that Microsoft won over these 2 companies…
